THE MEN OF MR. PHILIPPINES – WORLD 2007

It has been four years since the last Mr. Philippines-World was proclaimed. This year, the most prestigious male pageant in the country is once again in search for the rightful representative of the Philippines in the coming Mr. World Pageant 2007 to be held in Sanya, China.

Twenty-one young, talented and gorgeous men were selected from among close to a hundred applicants. This year’s candidates offer a mixture of men with varied looks, attitudes and styles.

Eighteen-year old Benj Borja is a senior student in high school and a budding television star. He has a big crush on Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie and international ramp model Kate Moss. John Lopez entered the contest because he wants to develop his self-confidence, and to be a good role model to others who wants to join this kind of competition. Ronnie Golpeo is a homebody-type who likes to play basketball and video games.

Paul Anthony Celis considers himself as vain, confessing that it takes more than half-an-hour to fix himself in front of the mirror. Peifman Borja Gomari, a popular commercial model of a major shampoo-conditioner brand, says that if given a chance to represent the country abroad, he will promote the tourism industry, specifically the beautiful beaches at Boracay and the ones in Palawan. Aiman Manuel Perea goes to gym regularly to maintain his shape in preparation for the coming finals night.

Claude Jean Bocquet is a third year Architecture student at Ateneo de Davao. This Filipino-French guy loves local cuisine but admitted that he is on a hard diet the past week, strictly no rice. Jessie del Rosario says that his expressive eyes are his best assets. This twenty four-year old graduate of BS Management is finishing another course in two years time, Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Ronee Ray del Castro defines a gentleman as courageous, aggressive and a born leader.

Iago Raterta, probably the most experienced contestant in the group, admitted that his previous exposure in international contest will surely be a great advantage in achieving his goal, that is to become a popular model. Twenty three-year old Alexander Rico has a small business back in his hometown in Oriental Mindoro. A breadwinner in his family, Alex says that he always has a positive attitude towards the contest and remains relax in all activities. Meanwhile, Deonne Desallas loves to read books and current events in preparation for the interview segment.

Six-footer John Carlo Cruz told this correspondent that he is a total package of looks, talent and brain. He admires local stars Dawn Zulueta and Angel Locsin. A graduate of Civil Engineering, twenty two-year old Jason Fulgencio says that he is a man full of confidence in everything he is into. He loves eating pasta and enjoys music bars as hangout places.

Ian Leonel Porlayagan considers himself as a simple man with a simple dream, and that is to help his mother in sending his siblings to school. This high school graduate from Nueva Ecija enjoys listening to live bands in his spare time. Twenty one-year old Harley Ng is a veteran in the field of modeling. This Filipino-Chinese bachelor is fluent in Mandarin and English. He confessed that he usually raps when pressured in work or in contest. Nursing student Roy Albert Virrey told us that he was encourage by a friend who was a former candidate to join the contest. He wants to visit the famous scenic spots of the countryside if given a chance. Jerimaine Supan loves to work out everyday, he says that praying is the last thing he does before going to bed and brushing his teeth as the first he does in the morning.

4Th year Management student Emannuel Mago joined the contest to develop his personality and eventually to win the title. This athletic guy is proud of his broad shoulders and loves to eat sinigang. Gian Carlo Cordero says that he is a down-to-earth person. He likes going to the mall and is fascinated with branded perfumes.

Mr. Philippines-World 2007 is another prestigious project of BPCI headed by Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta. Ffinals night on February 17 to be telecast over Master Showman Presents on GMA Channel 7.
