This is my second post on Alfred Vargas.

When Alfred was first introduced in ABS-CBN’s soaps, he was being groomed as the ultimate leading man – fitting the epitome of a perfect Filipino leading man – tall, dark and handsome. However, his managers noticed that despite of his goodlooks, background and acting talent, he lacked the commercial appeal. He was then advised to start pumping iron and shift into the bold genre.

The repackaged Alfred Vargas’ first venture into the daring roles was through movie Bikini Open, a movie which tackled the lives of bikini search contestants. In the film, he was made to walk the ramp clad in only skimpy trunks. The now muscular Alfred started to get noticed and no less than Lolit Solis took him under her wing.

Under his new manager, Alfred transferred to GMA7 where he was packaged as a hunky actor not afraid to bare all. He became the product endoser of Walker Undergarments and a coffee table book was produced by the company wherein he showcased all his wares (well, not really everything).

With Alfred becoming one of GMA7′s bankable hunks, a video scandal featuring “him” surfaced over the internet which was reportedly shot a few years before he became really popular.
