Dingdong Dantes: Worth The Long Wait

Jose Sixto Dantes III or more popularly known as Dingdong Dantes is an actor/director/model/tv host in the Philippines. At only 27 years old, this guy has achieved a lot in his chosen career. He started out as a commercial model for a cough syrup as a choirboy with a bad haircut in 1993. He then reappeared a few years later as one of the Abztract Dancers, together with his cousin Arthur Solinap. Realizing that he has a lot of potential, he was cast in his first teen-oriented TV show, T.G.i.S. (alongside Antoinette Taus, Sunshine Dizon, Polo Ravales and others). In the show, he played the role of the cool and suave Inaki Torres. He was the only reason why I never missed the show until it got cancelled. After his stint in teeny-bopper tv shows and movies, he then ventured into hosting. He was assigned by his home network, GMA7 to host shows like Binibining Pilipinas, ‘Wag Kukurap and Starstruck. Although quite stiff and serious in his hosting, the kid has got a lot of talent in that area. Wanting to further hone his craft in all aspects of showbiz, he also tried directing tv shows (if I remember correctly, he directed some made for TV movies and certain episodes in popular teleserye, Encantadia). At present, he is involved with the Philippine adaptation of popular Mexican telenovela, Marimar as Sergio Santibanez. In the soap, he has shed off the wholesome image he has maintained throughout the years. And as a testament to the image shift, he has showed some skin in the latest issue of Cosmomen as its cover and as one of the 2007 Centerfolds (with Jon Avila aka Jon Mullally, Joem Bascon, Jake Cuenca, Bruno Folster, Luke Jickain, Paolo Paraiso, Derek Ramsey, Marvin Raymundo aka Marvin Wijangco, and Alfred Vargas). |

i don’t understand myself why i’m not attracted to dingdong. his face is expressionless, his lips too thin for my taste, and his eyes are blank. he has good physique, yes, and admittedly intelligent, pero di ko talaga type. btw, i respect others here who have the hots for him.

same here. i saw this guy in person once at shang mall. nothing….no attraction for me. just another relatively pretty face. and i thought he was a bit self-conscious–he kept on looking around while talking to his lady companion, as if checking out the reaction of other shoppers to his presence.

Hmmm… speaking of retouched.. Mukha nga syang retouched. look closely at his neck… Mukhang, another anglica panganiban thingy… Just my observation.

the problem might be… he lacks an attitude. masyadong flat and pa-cute. or hindi nga nagpapa-cute e.
he could’ve done better with the good looks. he’s got all the right equipment, but hasn’t read the manual yet.

being a professional graphic artist who is still very sad about the philippines’ retouching “industry”, i’m sorry to burst your bubble but the photograph has had TONS of retoke. It’s really pathetic. I thought there would be an evolution from the fake muscles of richard gutierrez in last year’s issue but this one just takes the cake. sobrang peke nakakaturnoff.

Turn off nga..ba’t pumayag siya na i-retouch ng sobra just to achieve an almost barbie-like physique (hindi yung ken ha!)..I agree with you gays that he may look good pero mukhang kulang sa factor..to make a superior product you need to have a good artist and a good material…tsk.tsk..Im sorry but he’s not worth the wait..

ay naku neneng trungkayam ka dyan, over acting na talaga un pagkaka photo shop ng picture ng kuyamo, bakt kaya di nila ilagay un truliling picture kung chaka naman ba ang katawan eh bakt pa kukunin model, eh di un nA lang na talagang dilicious pero neneg tekalang diba sa panahon ngaun kung sino ang in (take note hindi kung sino ang sikat ha?) pinagsisiksikan ng mga mags na ilagay, tapos salaamt sa photoshop pala, pwede naman may magic wag naman sanang lahat, imbes na purihin natin, aysn grabd slam sa kalalait diba!

guys, what do you mean by photoshop? is it the only image editing software that people in the graphic industry used? besides, whose fault is that? siguro naman di alam ni dingdong that the publisher will do a lot of image retouching on his photos… or if ever, i think that’s part of the deal… lahat naman ata even sa mga print models, dinadaya ang skin tone, body sculpt to make them appealing, and at the same time, mabenta yung product na ini-endorse nila… in this case, yung magazine… right?

ewan ko ba why most of the people question if it’s edited or not, eh halata namang edited. face lang ata ung hindi inedit jan eh. dingdong still doesn’t have that great of a body. but compared to his chubby na katawan noon, laki na nga ng pagbabago. but still not enough for him to pose like this.

Hahaha,hey fellows don’t be such so fool to be attracted by those edited pictures. I used to be in a major magazine publishing company and it is true na hindi lahat ng artista perfect captured halos lahat ng nasa magazine na mga babe hotties and hunks dumaan sa editing. just like Ruffa Gutierrez sa cover niya sa Marie Clair. do you know how many retouches does the graphic artist did and ilang ulit siyang nirereject ng graphic editor para makuha yung correct shade? secret!( e.g.lighten mo yung face, i-pout mo yung lips,make it more lively,i-heal mo yung wrinkles etc.)Anyway, the idea is to make it the most appealing to all customers and potential buyer for magazines, for billboards naman syempre for people to hail these models at para gayahin kahit pa lokohan na sabihin na Si Gabby Concepcion ay gumagamit or gumamit dati ng Lucida-DS noon pa kaya siya ganyan kakinis.( Maging mapanuring mamimili, sayang naman ang pinag-aralan niyo kung maniniwala kayo agad) well hindi ko naman nilalahat kasi may mga products and pictures nman talaga na hindi na gaano ineedit. Sa billboard ni Dindong sa balintawak . hindi na nilighten yung garter line ng briefs niya sa hips to make it appear na more manly at wlng vain sa katawan kya makikita niyo na mejo maitim or darker yung part na yun . And even sa mga photo shoots nagyun,, the darker the bikini line the more na it can catch attention kasi pag uusapan and people might think na normal lang talaga sa tao ang magkaroon ng darker shades sa bikini, sa garter or waist line ng mga hunks even sa butt.I am telling you mas maganda ang kutis ng ASIAn compared sa Foreign .. If you happen to see bold foreign movies.. dinadaan sa lighting yun kaya nagmumukhang maganda kutis nila.. in fact they are far worst than others kasi naglulupa na yung skin nila sa seldom nilang maligo and yung pubes and unwanted hairs nila ang gara.I have a pornogrpaher friend na nag eedit ng foreign materials… Ei! sorry kung may mga nabanggit ako na pangalan . Don’t take it against me. I know we have our own thinking and views and own work and jobs. what i have witnessed might be another way around sa iba. kaya itong message ko has no intention as defamation sa mga advertisements. I am also a marketing, pr and advertising experienced bloke kaya ko nasasabi ito. So pano have a nice day … Mr Good Man
