John Daryl Rose: Models And Weight Issues
|
John Daryl Rose competed at the 2004 MTV Fashionista Model Search with Victor Basa, Anthony Madden, Dennis McIrvin, Don Mendoza, Rocky Salumbides, Jerome Uy, AJ Winkler and James Zablan. These amateur models had one goal in mind – to win the right to represent the Philippines in major international modeling competitions that year. In the competition, Rocky Salumbides was declared MTV Fashionista Best Model – Male; AJ Winkler was declared Mr. Intercontinental – Philippines and Anthony Madden was adjudged the Manhunt International – Philippines representative. Daryl, then at 18 years old and looking really lanky, did not win the top prize and neither was he awarded any of the minor prizes, but the competition was a good exposure for him and offers to model for top designers in the Philippines and to appear in tv commercials and print ads started pouring in. During the course of his modeling career, he began putting on more weight (probably following the advice of his handlers) and he looked better and more manly that when he was just starting. After a string of successful appearances in fashion shows and commercials, Daryl shied away from the limelight. However, he was recently sighted at the Cosmopolitan Magazine Bachelor Bash sporting a rather chubby exterior. This sight of him suddenly reminded me of the episode of Friends where Chandler saw a picture of Monica when she was still fat and suddenly burst into laughter. Monica quickly retorted that the camera adds 10lbs to one’s actual weight. The quick-witted Chandler responded: “Actually, how many cameras were on you Monica?” Probably, the same thing happened to John Daryl Rose. He wasn’t really fat. It was the number of cameras that were on him that made him look fat. Hehe. Just Kidding. Despite being on the heavy side, he still looked ravishing and delish in that gold tunic and that really tight gold pair of pants. |
