Jake Cuenca: Grass Is Greener On The Other Side
|
This is my second post on Jake Cuenca (Click Here for the first post) It has become quite apparent that Jake Cuenca’s transfer from GMA7 to ABS-CBN2 was a welcome move for his career. With his departure from the Kapuso network came his supporting actor status as he now leads the cast in ABS-CBN’s upcoming teleserye, “Palos”. After having been given a supporting role in his first teleserye with the Kapamilya network, “Sana’y Maulit Muli”, he was immediately cast as one of the main actors in his next project for the network, “Sineserye Presents: Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos”. And now, Jake is set to star in his biggest role to date as the elusive thief, “Palos”. The big-budgeted action series’ title comes from the Tagalog word for “eel”, an animal which best represents the hard-to-catch thief whose character is being played by Jake. The character of Palos first came into the consciousness of the Filipinos during the success of the classic Filipino anti-hero comics series of the same name. When a big screen adaptation was made later on, it immortalized the then unknown San Beda track-athlete-turned-matinee idol, Bernard Bonnin, in Philippine cinema. In one of his interviews, Jake exclaims that he was overwhelmed with ABS-CBN’s decision to give him the title role for the said action series. And to repay the trust given him by his new network, he promises to show a different Jake Cuenca in this project by working doubly hard to perfect his martial arts and acting skills. Palos will start airing in the summer of 2008 and joining Jake in the cast are: Cesar Montano, Roxanne Guinoo, Carla Humphries, Valerie “Bangs” Garcia, JR Siaboc, Wendy Valdez, Sunshine Cruz, Jodi Sta. Maria and Julia Barretto. Also starring in this much-awaited teleserye are Be Bench: Model Search finalists and ABS-CBN talents Regine Angeles and Ron Morales. (Below is a video featuring the show’s trailer) . Incidentally, Jake will be celebrating his birthday on the 30th of December. Photo credits: Vince Lopez and Borj Meneses for some pics in this post.
