JC de Vera: New Afternoon Drama Prince
|
John Carlo de Vera, more popularly known in the Philippines as JC de Vera, is considered as the afternoon drama prince of today having appeared in several afternoon soap operas in his home network, GMA7. “Now and Forever: Mukha”, “Now and Forever: Agos”, “Pati Ba Pintig Ng Puso” and “Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig” are just a few of the afternoon soaps JC has starred in. At present, JC is being managed by star-builder Anabelle Rama and the latter, apparently, is handling his career very well. The adorable young actor, like most of the stars today, started in showbiz by doing commercials. He then crossed over to doing television shows, his first being the teen-oriented show, “Click”. At that time, he was paired with Valerie Concepcion. After the untimely pregnancy of Valerie, their loveteam was immediately dissolved and the network executives of GMA decided to scrap the said show soon thereafter. Realizing the young star’s potential, GMA immediately cast JC in another weekend early afternoon drama entitled, “Joyride”. His boyish good looks and remarkable acting ability made him an instant hit among teens and thus, he was given more projects such as movies and other television shows. He became a part of the cast of Sugo, Captain Barbell, Makita Ka Lang Muli, Mga Kwento Ni Lola Basyang, among others. He was also paired with several young ladies but all these team-ups seem to be disliked by the audience. Recently, he was paired with Starstruck 1′s female first runner up Yasmein Kurdi in their first soap together, “Pati Ba Pintig Ng Puso” (PBPNP). Their loveteam was immediately accepted by the televiewers which gave their show consistently high ratings. Their successful team up was again seen in the soap which replaced PBPNP, the television remake of the Sharon Cuneta movie, “Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig”. This 2008, another Sharon Cuneta movie is about to be remade by GMA7, “Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita”. The new show is expected to air on February of this year and is to star JC and Yasmien together with Angelika de la Cruz, Marvin Agustin, Dina Bonnevie and Tonton Gutierrez. |
