Sikil: Love Triangle With A Twist
|
After its successful international screenings on Oct. 16-24, 2007 at the Cinema del Mediterrani Film Festival in Valencia, Spain; on November 14-19, 2007 at the Cancun International Film Festival in Cancun, Mexico; and on the still ongoing Palm Springs International Film Festival in Palm Springs, California, USA, one of the most talked about independent films of 2007, Sikil, will be having its regular run starting January 16, 2008 at the Robinson’s Galleria IndieSine. Although it already had a well-attended special screening for the Philippine audience at the UP Film Center on November 22, 2007, the film’s producer and director wanted the Filipino movie-going public to witness this cinematic masterpiece and thus they pushed for its regular screening. And luckily for us moviegoers, the movie was approved for public exhibition by the MTRCB without cuts. Sub-titled “Unspoken Passion” for international release, the movie encapsulates the drama in the lives of three childhood friends whose friendship is tested by love and desire. For those who aren’t familiar with the movie, here is its synopsis: “Three friends, two boys and a girl growing up in a small town south of Manila, share the same dreams, the same pains, the same visions and the same passions. As they reach adulthood the love they have for each other reaches a new intensity and in this perfect friendship, choices have to be made testing their loyalties while discovering their preferences. From being childhood friends they have become three individuals struggling to find their true identity, looking for a deeper meaning to their existence. This friendship was almost perfect but for the choices they have to make, the very choice that is capable of ripping their friendship apart when boy loves girl, girl loves boy and boy loves boy. A different kind of love that brings on the true beauty, the deeper meaning of forgiveness and the joy of letting go.” Featured in the film are showbiz newcomers Ken Escudero (Ginoong Filipinas 2006), Wil Sandejas (Hataw Super Bodies Bikini Open 2006 first runner up) and TV actress Ashley Silverio. It is directed by acclaimed tv-commercial director Ronaldo “Roni” Bertubin and is produced by New Life Cinema. The movie also stars Anita Linda, Sylvia Sanchez, Ernie Garcia, Joy Viado, Rico Lazaro, Harold Montano and a lot more. There will be a special “meet and greet the stars” event at the Robinson’s Galleria IndieSine on Sikil’s opening day, January 16, 2008. |
