Two of GMA7’s prized possessions, Richard Gutierrez and Marian Rivera, are teaming up in GMA Films’ Valentine offering entitled “My Bestfriend’s Girlfriend” (BFGF). I think the title already gives away the plot of the story but this adorable tandem is apparently worth watching. (see trailer below)

In the BFGF, Richard plays Evo, a rich and arrogant young man who seems to be living a happy-go-lucky lifestyle; and Marian plays the role of Grace, an industrious student struggling to make ends meet. Their paths crossed when Grace was forced by a sudden need for cash to be a sexy dancer for a stag party organized by one of Evo’s friends. The conflict arises when Evo’s bestfriend (played by JC de Vera) introduces his girlfriend, Grace, to Evo. And due to several twists and turns in the story, Grace and Evo end up in each others’ arms.

This would be the first ever team up of the two in any project and this could be an experimental pairing at that. You would remember that since Angel Locsin’s departure from the Kapuso network, GMA7 has yet to fill in the slot of a female lead who could be Richard Gutierrez’ onscreen partner. And with the success of Marian Rivera’s Marimar series, who could be more suited to replace Angel Locsin but Marian.

Could this Richard-Marian movie be a prelude to another onscreen team up? I surmise that the box office success of this movie would translate into their television pairing. In a teleserye entitled “Darna meets Captain Barbell” perhaps?
