When Filipino-American Gerald Anderson won as fourth big placer in the first season of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition (PBBTE), he became one of the hottest teen sensations. Immediately following his exposure in the PBB House, he was featured in a dance album, he became an endorser for the premier fashion brand Bench, he starred in the teen teleserye “Sana Maulit Muli” (with PBBTE1′s Grand Winner Kim Chiu) and the sitcom “Aalog-Alog”, and he played lead roles in the movies “First Day High” and “I’ve Fallen For You”. At that time, it seemed like his career was going nowhere else but up. However, since his stint in the teleserye and in the box-office hit movies, he is nowhere to be seen but in tv commercials / print ads for bench and close up and in opening numbers for Wowowee. What could have happened to his and Kim Chiu’s careers? Is ABS-CBN cooking up something new to repackage Kim and Gerald? Last I saw him on a regular show was in the now defunct teen comedy “Go Kada Go” which allegedly caused a rift between him and the show’s director Bobot Mortiz. Could this be the reason why he is now a “frozen delight” of the Kapamilya Network. |
