Sam Milby, the phenomenal multimedia heartthrob who was a product of the first season of ABS-CBN’s star-building show Pinoy Big Brother, was in the news recently for reportedly having been considered to play the male lead in “My Girl”, the first ever Koreanovela franchise of the Philippines. He would have been cast as “Julian” in the soap which would have made him the love interest of “Jasmine”, to be played by fellow Pinoy Big Brother discovery, Kim Chiu. However, the “powers-that-be” in the network opted to pair the Cebuana teen sensation with her long-time partner Gerald Anderson.

The network decision to bring back the Kim Chiu-Gerald Anderson tandem in a soap was reportedly due to the fact that their former teleserye entitled “Sana Maulit Muli” which has been dubbed in different languages was a big hit in Taiwan and is to land soon on the shores of Cambodia and Vietnam. And it is predicted that following the same formula, the Pinoy version of “My Girl” will yield the same result. This leaves Sam Milby out of the picture for the role of “Julian”.

Meanwhile, Sam who was part of the recently concluded teleserye “Maging Sino Ka Man – Book 2″ and the blockbuster hit movie “Big Love” cannot be reached for comment on this matter because of the Heartthrobs Concert Tour which took him and Piolo Pascual to Guam, Chicago, Jacksonville and other cities in the US and Canada. One thing is certain though, Sam Milby’s rendition of the song “My Girl” will be used as the soap’s theme.
