Since Gabby Concepcion’s return to the Philippines, he has been the topic of most (if not all) Philippines-based showbiz columns on newspapers, tabloids and even blogs. The former matinee idol has been away from the country for the past 13 years and is now resurrecting his career as an actor. But never has there been a comeback that is not laden with controversy; and Gabby’s is not spared. In an interview with the Buzz on ABS-CBN last Sunday, he confirmed that he will officially be a Kapamilya actor with several projects in the offing which include a movie, a teleserye and a special guesting in the Philippines’ longest-running drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya”. He also wished to star in a movie opposite ex-wife Megastar Sharon Cuneta and daughter KC Concepcion if circumstances permit. In the same interview, he expressed his sincerest apologies to those whom he has hurt in the past as he is now trying to rebuild his acting career in the Philippines. In a separate interview, he was asked if he is to honor the contract he signed with GMA Films earlier – to which his manager, Ms. Rose Flaminiano, answered in the affirmative. However, Ms. Flaminiano stresses that he is to prioritize projects from ABS-CBN. According to several sources, a movie with Claudine Barretto is already in the works and they will start shooting on the 20th of April. It has been reported that Gabby Concepcion’s two-year contract with the Kapamilya network and its film outfit, Star Cinema, was negotiated to the tune of P50 million to P100 million. |
