Marcus Madrigal on gay-themed movies
|
Marcus Madrigal, the boldie-turned-thespian, is again visible on the boob tube having been a part of GMA7 shows such as “Bakekang” “Sine Novela Presents”, “Marimar” and “Kamandag” from 2007 up to the present. He went on hiatus from movie and television acting to hone his craft as a theater performer. He was seen on stage productions of “Kanser”, “Noli Me Tangere”, “Florante at Laura” and the contemporary play “Laro”. Now, he returns into doing movies with the digital film, “Sa Pagdapo Ng Mariposa” as his comeback vehicle. In the movie, he plays the role of a sepak takraw athlete whose future is debilitated by injury. He is nursed back to health by a male caregiver (played by Josh Deocareza) whom he falls in love with, eventually. In an interview, he said that before doing his current film, he has been offered movies revolving around gay themes. He opted not to accept them because of the risque love scenes they entailed. He got interested in doing “Sa Pagdapo Ng Mariposa” because despite its homosexual undertones, it has much less love scenes compared to other movies of the same genre. Marcus believes that intimate moments between the characters need not be too graphic. He stresses that suggestive scenes turn out to be more effective in the conveying the true message of a film. “Sa Pagdapo Ng Mariposa” opens at the Robinson’s Galleria IndieSine on April 23, 2008. |
