Luis Alandy on begging off from doing a role
|
Luis Alandy is no stranger to portraying gay roles in the big screen. However, he begged off from doing another one in Regal Film’s sequel to the highly successful coming of age movie of three gay brothers, “Manay Po”. In an interview, Luis implied that he feared being typecast as a gay actor so he rejected the offer to reprise the role of Adriane in “Manay Po 2: Overload”. He added that it’s not that he doesn’t want the job, it’s just that he doesn’t want to appear as a gay man in successive movies as he has already played gay characters in the movies “Manay Po” and “Desperadas” last year. In “Manay Po 2: Overload”, the character of Adriane was retained but it was played by an equally good character actor – Sid Lucero. In the upcoming fantasy-series “Dyesebel”, Luis joins the cast as the mortal “Gildo” who will be the nemesis of “Fredo” (Dingdong Dantes‘ character) in the heart of “Dyesebel” once she takes human form. |
