It had become apparent that Diether Ocampo has shed off a lot of excess pounds before starring in his new soap, “Maligno”. When I last saw him in the kiddie series “Princess “Sarah” and in the suspense-thriller “Lobo”, he was still a bit of a muscular jock. And now, he appears to have trimmed down to achieve the look of leaner models which seems to be the “in thing” right now.

Could this have been caused by his separation with erstwhile wife Kristine Hermosa? Or could this have been the result of alleged death threats which have plagued him these past few days? Or did he just realize that he has to look lean and young to compete with the drool-worthy hunks whose careers are flourishing in his home network right now?

We cannot ascertain the real cause of his drastic weight loss but there’s one issue that I have an answer to – and this is about his alleged impending transfer to the Kapuso network. Well, the there is no truth to that issue after all. As a matter of fact, he was present in the story conference for a new soap he will star in – “Iisa Pa Lamang”. This upcoming soap will feature him together with Claudine Barretto, Susan Roces and the controversial Gabby Concepcion. However, this show will not air until the middle of the year.

In the mean time, we can enjoy seeing Diether in “Maligno” which will be aired by ABS-CBN on weeknights starting tomorrow after Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus.
