This year’s most-awaited fashion event, Philippine Fashion Week 2008, was recently staged at its new home, SMX Convention Center-Mall of Asia. The event which opened on May 26 was aptly titled “GLIMPSES: A Dawn of a New Decade”, as it featured contemporary and fashion forward collections of our country’s established as well as budding new designers. The first 6 days of the show were held at the SMX Convention Center on a “by invitation only” basis. However, on its last three days, the event was brought closer to the masses as some of the collections were presented on the Mall of Asia’s Main Atrium ramp. The show was brought to the mall towards the end of its 9-day run to bring fashion closer to the masses.

Together with a couple of friends, I covered the Menswear segment of the event on June 1, 2008. The mall show featured the designs of Anthony Nocom, Bang Pineda, Frederick Policarpio, Gerry Katigbak, Jay Masangya, Jeffrey Rogador, Lyle Ibañez, M Barretto, Manelle Chamian, Odelon Simpao, Raoul Ramirez, Ramon Favila, Simon Ariel Vasquez, Yako Reyes and Zxander Tan.

Featured in this post are the designers’ creations as they were worn on the ramp by Manila’s top male mannequins Carlo Adorador, Victor Aliwalas, Larry Bril, Trishan Cuaso, Christian de la Cruz, Rodel Felicidario, Luke Jickain, Bo Rivera, Robby Mananquil, Jobo Roa, Ram Sagad, Michael Seifert, James Zablan and a host of other promising male models.
