Paolo Contis on getting his first major acting plum

Paolo Contis was declared Best Movie Actor of the year for movie “Banal” at the recently concluded Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Movies . He beat Aga Muhlach (A Love Story), Piolo Pascual (Paano Kita Iibigin), Sid Lucero (Selda), Ryan Eigenmann (Baliw) and John Lloyd Cruz (One More Chance), his fellow nominees in that category, to get this year’s Best Movie Actor plum and his first major acting award at that.

I think it’s about time award-giving bodies, such as the PMPC, took notice of an actor’s sheer acting prowess and not his movie’s box office success in giving out acting laurels. This recognition will probably get his home network GMA7 to take him seriously and give him bigger roles in his future projects – a lead role in an action-packed teleserye perhaps?
