It’s confirmed. After the long wait and numerous speculations as to who will play the role of Armando Solis in the Philippine adaptation of the popular Colombian soap opera, “Yo Soy Betty, La Fea”, ABS-CBN through its Sunday afternoon showbiz talkshow, the Buzz, identified John Lloyd Cruz as the chosen one to play the highly-coveted role. This soap will reunite the Bea Alonzo-John Lloyd Cruz loveteam which has been together since their first soap as a tandem, “Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay” in 2002.

After the success of his movie, “A Very Special Love”, with Sarah Geronimo, John Lloyd, in an interview, relates that he is very happy to have been included in the cast of “I Love Betty La Fea” as Betty’s main man. He, however, admitted that he is nervous to play the role which has been reprised by several actors in as many countries as there are “Betty La Fea” adaptations. What makes him more anxious to be paired with Bea again is the fact that they have not worked together in a long time and that Bea’s character looks a lot different from the previous roles she has portrayed in their previous soap operas together. He further explained that he has a lot of adjustment to do, as far as the role of Armando in the soap is concerned.

John Lloyd also negates any truth to the rumor that it took him a long time to decide whether to accept the role or not. He reiterated his perennial line that he is the soldier of the company (ABS-CBN) and whatever role is given him, he has no right to refuse. For him, what is important is that he is playing the role of Armando Solis.

“I Love Betty” starts airing this September in ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida Block.
