The first movie team up of Richard Gutierrez and KC Concepcion, “For The First Time”, opened in theaters on August 27, 2008 and has since been breaking box office records. In its opening day, the movie grossed more than P14 million and as of today, there have been reports that the movie raked in over P80 million in ticket sales for Star Cinema, the movie’s producer. “For The First Time” easily dislodged the highly-acclaimed date flick, “A Very Special Love” which starred John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo, from box-office supremacy and could easily make Richard and KC this year’s Box Office King and Queen.

Those who watched “For The First Time” claimed that the movie was a bit mediocre as far as the story line and actors’ acting abilities are concerned. However, it would not merit a “B” rating from the Cinema Evaluation Board for nothing, right? Perhaps the movie is not as good as we expected it to be, but we have to give it to the actors who had their share of firsts in the movie.

The ticket sales of the movie prove one thing – the Richard Gutierrez-KC Concepcion tandem is definitely a big hit. They have passed through the litmus test of box-office appeal with flying colors and it will surely manifest in their future films together.
