John Lloyd Cruz on taking the helm
|
In the blockbuster hit film “A Very Special Love”, John Lloyd Cruz played the role of Miguel “Miggy” Montenegro, head honcho of the newly established men’s magazine, “Bachelor”. A girl by the name of Laida Magtalas (played by Sarah Geronimo), who has a long time crush on Miggy applies to be his editorial assistant and by some twist of fate, lands the job. Laida blindly caters to Miggy’s every whim, even to the point where he breaks her fragile heart. However, the two end up together, as in most love stories. And as if by sheer concidence, the plot of “A Very Special Love” closely resembles that of ABS-CBN’s newest teleserye offering, “I Love Betty La Fea”, which incidentally also stars John Lloyd Cruz. In the show, John Lloyd Cruz plays Armando Solis, the President of Ecomoda Manila, the advertising agency which is the setting of the adventures and misadventures of Beatriz Pengson a.k.a. Betty La Fea. “I Love Betty La Fea” is the series that brings back the utterly missed John Lloyd Cruz-Bea Alonzo team up which has amassed a great following over their several years of working together in teleserye and movie projects. “I Love Betty La Fea” premiered tonight as a part of ABS-CBN’s New Primetime Bida lineup. Based on its pilot episode, the series shows great promise. It airs weeknights after “Dyosa”. |
