Jericho Rosales on his grandiose soap opera
|
Contrary to reports, the Jericho Rosales-led teleserye, “Kahit Isang Saglit”, is not the first soap opera co-production between the Philippines and Malaysia. The first one was entitled “Muli” and it starred Alfred Vargas, Marian Rivera, Carrie Lee and a host of other Filipino and Malaysian actors and was aired over at GMA7. “Muli” didn’t get much following due to its early afternoon schedule and mediocre plot. It was canceled soon after its pilot telecast and nobody even cared. Early this year, ABS-CBN announced that it was going to co-produce, together with Double Vision of Malaysia, an ambitious soap opera intended for the Southeast Asian region. It was one of the most awaited shows in the region as it brings together two of the hottest actors in their respective countries, Jericho Rosales of the Philippines and Carmen Soo of Malaysia. Initially, it had a working title of “A Time For Us”, however, in honor of its original director, the late Gilbert Perez, who died of a heart attack while filming the grandiose soap, this was changed to “Kahit Isang Saglit” (which is also the title of the late director’s first movie). Last night, it had its premiere telecast. I wasn’t able to catch it as I was busy editing the pictures of Ian Leonel Porlayagan. Good thing somebody uploaded the episode at www.pinoychannel.tv, so I was able to watch it this morning. All I can say about it is… BRAVO! Its pilot episode packed all the ingredients which would get a viewer hooked to every scene and await the succeeding episodes. I just hope ABS-CBN puts it at an earlier timeslot so more viewers can witness the magnificent production. I’m already a fan of the show. “Kahit Isang Saglit” airs in the Philippines during weeknights on ABS-CBN after “Iisa Pa Lamang”. For viewers in Malaysia and Singapore, the show will be aired on primetime during Saturdays and Sundays starting this weekend. Photo credit: Joseph Ong for a pic in this post |

it is still different because in MULI they just hired a Malaysian actress but it was only GMA who produced the show. Kahit Isang Saglit is a joint venture from ABSCBN and Malaysian production outfit Double Vision.
