Folded and Hung Streetcast Act 2 Event

By UPH Administrator | October 25, 2008

In 1998, F&H | Folded and Hung opened its first store in Greenhills Shopping Center. At that time, the clothing brand catered to the needs of the teenagers and yuppies, who were looking for stylish, hip and affordable clothes which are not available on the racks of the then popular Filipino fashion boutiques. Ten years hence, the brand still caters to the same stylish individuals; but it has undergone a significant change. Now, it has emerged into a major player in Philippine fashion as it has established its foothold in the ready-to-wear fashion industry.

In celebration of its first decade of style, the brand organized a show for its loyal clients, supporters and friends which made F&H | Folded and Hung’s success possible. The show was entitled Streetcast Act 2, second in the series of annual fashion shows organized by F&H to showcase its latest collection. It featured the latest in streetwear for teens, young adults and yuppies as interpreted by the brand’s in-house designers. The show was held on October 23, 2008 at A. Venue Events Hall in Makati City and was graced by Manila’s fashion elite, stylish celebrities and fashion industry movers.

The show was opened by Tim Yap in a segment aptly titled “Lollipop“. This segment featured clothes which use fun and frisky colors as well as print on print styling. It is intended for young adults who are unafraid to experiement in fashion. (Click Here to view the collection). “Wasted Hicks” is the theme for the second segment. The designs in this collection was inspired by checkered shirts worn by rednecks. It emphasized the raw muscular built of men and the curvaceous form of women. (Click Here to view the collection). The third collection is called “Melted Metals” and it revolved around shiny earth tones representative of ores and precious metals and basic shades of black, white and gray. (Click Here to view the collection). The fourth of the men’s segments is Ivarluski Aseron’s “Knight Out” collection which concentrated on contrasts. A number of male models wore gladiator-inspired suits on top of textured bottoms while some of them wore surprisingly amazing combinations of knits and chiffon for their tops and metallic satin or leather pants for their bottoms. In its entirety, the show was a great success. It was able to bring together over 100 male and female models. Male models Luke Jickain, Marx Topacio, John Lopez, Raphael Kiefer, Janvier Daily, Niko Arellano (Aiman Perea), Mark Manicad, Ian Porlayagan, James Zablan, Jayson Fulgencio, JC Tiuseco, John Lopez, Mark Onir, Rey Talosig, Larry Bril, Lemuelle Pelayo, Cris Lomotan, Marvin Miranda, Paolo Laroza, Jobo Roa, Derick Hubalde, Mikee Carrion, Peter Nordell, Alvin Aguilar, Laxie Villar and others gave their best walk to ensure that they give justice to the clothes they were wearing. The brand’s main endorsers Tim Yap, JR Isaac, Maja Salvador and Joem Bascon walked the ramp for some segments in the show to the delight of the audience. Although Angel Locsin was a no-show at the October 23 event, she was not sorely missed as Claudine Barretto made her appearance on the ramp to top off the evening’s festivities. Here’s to another decade of success for F&H | Folded and Hung. We’ll surely await the show next year and of the years to come.

Special thanks to Aldwin Chiongbian, Mell Navarro, Ian Felix Alquiros, Dan Santos and Vince Lopez.
