Christian Cayabyab: Not Your Typical Model

Hair Color: Brown 23-year old Christian Ang Cayabyab is a fledgling model originally from Pangasinan but transplanted himself to Bacoor, Cavite. He started hitting the ramps for minor fashion designers at a tender age of 16. However, his tall but lanky frame, which was not the “in” thing during that era, failed to land him great modeling jobs. He concentrated on his studies instead. He took up Marketing at Adamson University. Upon finishing school, he decided that he was not interested in the career he earned his degree for. He set his eyes on pursuing his childhood dream of becoming a model. Being 6′2″-tall, he was already at an advantage. He initially tried bikini contests and 22nd Street’s Streetbodies was his first competition. During the preliminaries, he immediately got the audience’s attention, his bronzed skin and now well-defined physique easily got him his first contest win. He then set out for a bigger competition – a male pageant. Following his stint at 22nd Street, he wanted to take his modeling career into new heights. He went to the screening for Mister International Philippines 2008 and was fortunate to have been chosen as one of the lucky finalists. During the finals night of one of the country’s most prestigious male pageants, he did an amazing feat – he landed one of the coveted top 8 spots. Despite not bagging the top honors, he made a remarkable achievement for a pageant newcomer. His exposure in MIP 2008 got him a slot in ushering for Cosmopolitan Magazine’s Annual Bachelor Bash. That exposure also got him non-recurring roles for I Love Betty La Fea on ABS-CBN and La Lola on GMA7. Christian intends to do modeling full time as long as the industry wants him. Personally, I hope he lasts long in the business. He’s not your typical model as he is not full of himself despite his celebrity status. Although in the limelight, he remains grounded and simple. Models should exhibit attitude similar to his. His gregarious demeanor and fun personality makes this guy enjoyable and easy to work with. |

I thought C2 should have won the recent MIP 2008 tilt. He owned the stage! Unfortunately, it seemed the audience and judges fell for the foreigner look (which rarely do well in international competitions).
I recently saw C2 at MOA food court with the pageant winner Ryan and couple other fellow contestants (Ian Leonel and Mike?). Looked like Ryan was having a bout of acne. C2 in jeans and white tee looked cool and casual. Approach ko sana but hesitated, oh well.
I hope you go the lengths in ur modelling career Christian C. You remind me of a young Carlo Ian Adorador. Good Luck C2!
