Robert de Claro is a 23-year old professional model who hails from Sta. Cruz, Laguna. He graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing from San Pablo Colleges before deciding to pursue modeling full-time.

Robert initially thought that his 5’11″ frame would only serve as an advantage in playing basketball; until one day, his classmates urged him to get into modeling. He gave it a try and enjoyed it. At first, he graced fashion shows for budding fashion designers until bigger projects came along.

When the popular modeling competition, Bodyshots, was resurrected early last year, he was one of the many male models who heeded the call. During the screening, he stood out from among the pack and made a lasting impression with the contest’s organizers. He easily breezed through the screening and became one of the finalists for Bodyshots 2008.

At the final’s night of the model search, he still remained to be a standout. However, due to several reasons, he fell short of becoming part of the Top 5 and he failed to bring home any of the special awards given out. Despite this, he definitely made an impact with the model casters and fashion directors, who were at that night’s competition, that he was immediately cast in tv commercials and print ads.

Right after Bodyshots, Robert was able to land significant modeling jobs, some of which were: a tv commercial for LBC; a billboard for CLEAR anti-dandruff shampoo; fashion editorials for MetroHIM magazine; a feature in Cosmopolitan Magazine Philippines’ 2008 Most Eligible Bachelors; and a chance to walk the ramp at Philippine Fashion Week Spring Summer 2009.

Even if he is often told to closely resemble more popular model, Luke Jickain, Robert is determined to make his own mark in the modeling world. He is a photographer’s model – he could easily transition from a boy next door image to corporate yuppie sophistication with just a change of outfit and hairstyle – a quality which is not inherent in all Manila-based models. Clearly, this sets him apart from the other models currently walking the Manila fashion ramps. This makes Robert in a class of his own.
