Reports gathered say that the Marco Morales-starrer “Butas (Loophole)” was a resounding success when it had its special director’s cut screening at the UP Cine Adarna on January 12, 2009. Sources mentioned that the theater was swarmed by Marco’s adoring fans and a lot of them had to settle for standing-room-only (SRO) tickets just to catch a glimpse of the controversial and well-publicized scenes in the film.

Despite the film’s blockbuster achievement during its premiere night, it seems that the movie is having problems making it to regular theaters. The Philippines’ Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) is giving the producers of “Butas (Loophole)” a hard-time getting the go-signal for its commercial run. If all goes well with the Board of Censors, the producers are eyeing a January 28, 2009 playdate for the controversial film, moved from an originally planned January 15 release. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the indie flick makes it to regular theaters or if that doesn’t happen, let’s just wait for its DVD release.
