The Cappuccinos: The Newest Group To Set Our Screens Ablaze
|
In the tradition of the Viva Hotmen and the Men of Provoq, Roca Productions gives us an all-male group to tickle our fancies – the Cappuccinos. What makes them different from the two other groups mentioned is the fact that they do not shy away from showing a tad bit more flesh. The Cappuccinos, comprised of relatively newcomers in the business, make their debut performance in the independent film “Sagwan” produced by the production outfit which formed them, Roca Productions, under the direction of Monti Parungao. From its trailer it could be noticed that “Sagwan” is a poignant story dealing with the lives of young and able-bodied boatmen plying the waters of the Tatalon River who serve as tour guides to those who wish the see the picturesque local scenery while engaging in peddling their wares to make ends meet. It more particularly tackles the lives of two of these boatmen who, while rediscovering their true selves, fall in love with the same woman and with each other. “Sagwan” features the Cappuccinos (comprised of Dennis Torres, Ryan Dungo, Erie Obsena, Genesis “Gino” Cabrillas, Adrian Campos, Anton Vincent Malco, Rod Ortiz weight loss med and Christian Cayabyab), Martina Wilson and Mark Portus. Although the latter two members of the Cappuccinos (Rod and Christian) are not part of the movie, the other six members of the group more than compensates for the obligatory daring scenes neccessary for all eight of them. “Sagwan” will have a director’s cut screening at the UP Cine Adarna (formerly UP Film Institute) on February 4, 2009. The run in regular theaters will follow as soon as the MTRCB approves the film for public exhibition, which is tentatively February 11-17, 2009 at the Robinson’s Galeria Indie Sine.
