Despite experiencing a bit of difficulty, at the onset, in securing a permit with the MTRCB for its commercial run, it seems that it’s all systems go for the independent film “Sagwan” (which stars former Mister International – Philippines 2008 candidate Dennis Torres) to hit select theaters nationwide. It may be remembered that although it was a big hit during its premiere night at the UP Cine Adarna a couple of weeks back, it had some setback in getting the greenlight for its run in regular theaters. MTRCB, the Philippines’ movie-classification-board-cum-censorship-bureau, initially found it unsuitable for commercial viewing as it contained scenes too explicit for the Filipino audience. However, after the film’s director and producer agreed to shorten some daring scenes in the movie, the classification board finally agreed to give it the go signal. George Roca, the producer of “Sagwan”, assures those who are interested to catch the film in regular cinemas that they will still enjoy watching it in spite of this eventuality. “Sagwan” hits Robinson’s Galleria Indiesine, Robinson’s Ermita Movieworld, Robinson’s Iloilo cinema, Robinson’s Bacolod cinema, Cebu Cinema Colon, Gotesco Ortigas, Gotesco Recto, Gotesco Commonwealth, Remar Cubao at ABC Guadalupe, tomorrow, February 18, 2009. It stars Martina Wilson, Mark Portus and some of the Cappuccino Boys (Ryan Dungo, Erie Obsena, Genesis “Gino” Cabrillas, Adrian Campos, Anton Vincent Malco). |
