Dennis Trillo has experienced a noticeable slump in his career last year with his movies and television shows performing poorly in the box office and in the ratings game. His movie “I.T.A.L.Y.” was a box office disaster while his superhero series “Gagambino” turned out to be a nonsesensical material which dragged on for an unacceptably long period. Despite this, his home network still believed in the actor’s bankability and continued to give him projects.

2009 turns out to be a better year for the young actor. A glimmer of hope as to the recovery of his ailing career seems to be in the offing. His new soap opera “Adik Sa ‘Yo” has been performing well ratings-wise keeping itself within the Top Ten Primetime shows during weeknights in Mega Manila as per AGB Nielsen TV Ratings results. As for his movie career, he has also been given notable roles in the independent production of Boy Abunda and Boy So entitled “Astig (Mga Batang Kalye)” which was featured in the Cinemelaya Festival as well as in the upcoming horror flick entitled “Tarot” which he topbills with Marian Rivera. It’s a good thing that GMA7 and Regal Films still give importance to more senior stars like Dennis, that, despite the emergence of younger and hotter stars like Aljur Abrenica, they are not displaced to the sidelights.

Incidentally, the Jun Lana film “Tarot” hits theaters on August 26, 2009. It also stars Ana Capri, Gloria Romero, Roxanne Guinoo, Liza Lorena, Dante Rivero, Glaiza de Castro, Celia Rodriguez, Susan Africa, Niña Jose and Rich Asuncion. “Tarot” is produced by Regal Films.
